2025 Ayr Farmers Mutual Scholarship Program Recipients
In December, Ayr Farmers Mutual Insurance Company proudly awarded $24,000 in scholarships to post-secondary students. This year's applicants delivered thoughtful, creative ideas that will help shape how AFM serves our members and communities in the years ahead.
As part of the AFM Scholarship Program, children of policyholders were invited to apply by answering this question:
What new opportunities could Ayr Farmers Mutual explore to best support our purpose: Together, we care for and support our members and communities to thrive.
Applicants chose one of two categories to focus their submission:
Supporting our communities to thrive - recommending a community organization or investment AFM should explore, a community experience or event AFM should participate in or provide, and explaining the importance these have to them.
Supporting our members (policyholders) to thrive - suggesting a new opportunity for AFM to engage policyholders, ideas for how AFM could elevate the policyholder experience, and explaining the importance these have to them.
Students were encouraged to be creative in their submissions and to use whatever medium suited their communication style best: essay, video, infographic, poem, presentation, artwork, or any other format they chose.
We received 35 eligible applications from students across our communities - from Ayr to Aylmer, Cambridge to Clifford, and everywhere in between.
The submissions were exceptional. Students shared thoughtful ideas about youth education and career development initiatives, community partnerships with charitable organizations, financial and life skills empowerment programs, insurance literacy and education resources, digital tools and mobile platforms, preventative risk and climate preparedness programs, and enhanced member engagement and recognition initiatives.
We're genuinely excited about these ideas. They'll help shape how we show up for our members and communities in the year ahead, and they remind us why it's so important to listen to the people we're here to serve - especially the young people who see possibilities we might miss.
